Iowa’s beef industry is a major economic driver, contributing around $5 billion annually and ranking in the top 10 nationally for beef cows, cattle on feed, and total cattle numbers. The VDPAM Beef Team supports Midwest producers and veterinarians with animal health and production issues through consultations and on-farm visits. They also collaborate with industry organizations, ISU Extension Service, and the Iowa Beef Center to provide timely and accurate information.
The team boasts expertise in various disciplines, including toxicology, diagnostic pathology, epidemiology, and beef cattle production medicine, enabling them to diagnose health problems and design cost-effective solutions. They also offer consultation on trial design and data analysis for field-based research.
