Burrough Receives ACVP Award

Dr. Eric Burrough, professor of veterinary diagnostic and production animal medicine, has received the 2024 American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) Mid-Career Excellence Award.

A faculty member at Iowa State since 2011, Burrough is a ACVP Diplomate and the section leader of the Pathology Section in the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory. His primary research focus is on enteric diseases for pigs with a focus on Brachyspira-associated colitis. Burrough also has previous and ongoing projects investigating the pathogenesis and prevention of porcine enteric diseases.

A 1997 DVM graduate of Iowa State, Burrough has been previously honored with the ISU Award for Outstanding Achievement in Extension or Professional Practice, the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) Outstanding Achievement in Extension or Professional Practice, and the CVM Award for Early Achievement in Research.

Burrough served as the president of the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians from 2022-23.

The ACVP Mid-Career Excellence Award recognizes individuals who contribute exceptional leadership to the veterinary pathology profession.
