Do Something That Matters

Early in his career, Tom Burkgren heard good advice – strive for a point where he could work for fun and focus on his passions. Burkgren did just that with the American Association of Swine Practitioners, where he started working in 1994. He was named AASV’s full-time director in 1997 and served in that post until his retirement this year. “I’ve never had one day, in the last 25 years, when I’ve regretted working for AASV,” he said. “And some days were harder than others. I think that, at the end of a lot of days, I’ve really felt satisfied with how the day has gone and what we’ve accomplished."
