Our State Fair

The College of Veterinary Medicine has a significant presence every year at the Iowa State Fair including six alumni who assisted this year with sheep check-ins and checking Certifications of Veterinary Inspections for the FFA and 4-H competitions. Dr. David Schmitt (’73) is the state veterinarian for Iowa and he coordinated the activities along with Dr. Jeff Kaisand (’93) of Union, the assistant state veterinarian. The four Iowa district veterinarians are Dr. Robert Welander (’67), Mt. Pleasant; Dr. Greg Schmitt (’79), Le Mars; Dr. Wayne Rychnovsky (’82), Corning; and Dr. Gary Eiben (’80), Colesburg.
