Mother-Daughter Veterinarians
Dr. Linda Elliott ('78)
A lifelong love of animals is behind the mother/daughter team at Ahwatukee Commons Veterinary Hospital in Phoenix. Founded in 1988 by Linda R. Elliott, the hospital is a one-stop facility with its own surgical area, in-house laboratory, and state-of-the-art procedures for pets including stem cell therapy, ultrasound, radiology and cold laser therapy. Elliott was recently joined at the practice by her daughter, Dr. Rebecca Housley, even though she has been a part of the business since "she was a toddler," working alongside her mother while learning various aspects of running a veterinary hospital. A love of animals was the impetus to their careers. “I grew up on a farm and we had horses, chickens, ducks, goats, cats, and dogs,” said Elliott, formerly of Cedar Rapids. “I was the kid who brought home anything and everything. I once even chased a pig for six hours thinking we could keep it in our garage in town. Being a veterinarian was my calling.”
