Superbug Ambassador

A group of individuals recently gathered in the nation’s capital. Each had a personal connection with antibiotic resistance and Dustin Loy was a part of the “Stand Up to Superbugs” movement. Loy, an associate professor in the School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, conducts research on ocular and respiratory diseases of cattle with a specific interest in the development of tools and diagnostic strategies to assist veterinarians with disease prevention and the judicious selection and use of antimicrobials. During his stay in Washington, D.C., Loy shared with members of Congress and policymakers, his perspectives on how to raise awareness about the growing public health and national security threat posed by drug-resistant bacteria. The “Stand Up to Superbugs” initiative is coordinated by The Pew Charitable Trusts.
